I believe art is how souls communicate

I think we, as humans, haven’t changed that much. We have different caves – but deep down in our hearts we love, laugh, dream, grieve, hate, and hope just as our ancestors did thousands of years ago. This collection has its seasons. Just as Mother Earth moves through spring, summer, autumn, and winter, my soul, too, pulsates with seasons. Human life has seasons – and humanity itself circles through them all.

I love the idea of living with soul animals - invisible companions that follow us and protect us. Just imagine your morning bike ride - with a hedgehog in the front basket and a bear behind you.

around 80% of all species on this planet go through metamorphosis - a process of transformation on cellular level - completely changing bodies, visual appearance and body structure. This means that humans are actually an exception not experiencing body metamorphosis. But our inner worlds most probably are going through this natural process.

Sometimes I don't hear it in the earthy noise. Sometimes it is hiding, doesn't want to be seen. But I know it is there. I just have to be willing to see and hear, and feel.
I want to remember my soul.

I love to write from time to time. I know words are never quite enough to express what we feel - so much happens beyond them. But it’s necessary for me to put thoughts on paper when they arrive - sometimes like clouds, sometimes like puppies, and sometimes like ink flowing across a canvas.I won’t write often - but always from the heart.
Thank you for joining me in my studio!

My art is about experiencing this life, living it as much as possible, at the same time staying connected and not silencing my internal voice. I see we as humans haven’t changed a lot, we have changed the environment around us, but our core questions are as old as eternity.I have always been interested in layers of emotions, thoughts, pictures, and paint. We see and feel thousands of pictures, sounds, smells, factures, and tastes that transform into emotions, and by the end of the day, week, year, or life it creates something we call a life experience.

Ask me anything - from shipping paintings to my thoughts about life. I am always happy to read your letters! If you prefer writing directly to my email - here it is: [email protected]
I will be back as soon as I have finished playing in my studio and washed brushes!See you soon!

Agnese Aljēna (1976) was born in Riga, Latvia, and now resides in Denmark. Her artistic path evolved alongside a corporate career until 2007, when she shifted her focus entirely to art. She studied at the Moscow Photography Academy and founded her own photography studio in 2007. Agnese was recognized as one of the best photographers by the French prize PX3 (2010-2015).Alongside photography, she was part of the art studio Pedants for about five years, studying painting under the artist Kaspars Zariņš. Later she joined the art studio Grafita to refine her drawing skills for another four years. She has also participated in numerous workshops led by artists from around the world – experiences that helped her find her own voice without adhering to any single school or tradition. In 2017, Agnese became one of the founders of Riga Urbansketchers, bringing this global movement to Latvia. She also organized a series of art workshops with international artists from Indonesia, France, Germany, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. In 2019 and 2021, together with friends, she co-organized the Baltic Sketching Festivals, which gathered more than 500 artists from across Europe.During this period, Agnese worked on various illustration projects – most notably a book about Riga’s architecture, parts of which were acquired by the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation. Since 2020, she has co-owned DeepDeepLight – a small handmade watercolor factory that has deepened her understanding of pigments and color perception. Since 2021, her artistic focus has shifted toward large abstract paintings.Agnese’s work has been presented in four solo exhibitions, and she has participated in numerous group shows in Latvia, Lithuania, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Denmark. Her artworks are held in private and corporate collections in Latvia, France, the USA, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Hungary, and the United Kingdom.
